Wedding Wednesday #5: Introducing Christian Hansen (Groomsman)

Christian Hansen
Groomsman

I am a music performance graduate of Elon University and am currently working as the Director of Children, Youth, and Families at Christ Church in Grosse Pointe, MI. Before I moved to MI with my fiancée, Nicole, I worked as the youth pastor at Old Donation Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In my free time, I enjoy listening to great music, writing music, watching HBO Go / Netflix, and running to stay in shape.

Now, down to the business of telling you how I know my best friend Philip. He and I met when he hopped out of the car on his first day of cross country practice at Trinity in his red bandana and sunglasses. I was the team captain so I went over and introduced myself - I would later learn that he and his mom both thought I was the coach (ha)! From that moment on, he and his family became like my second family (to the point that I now call his parents "mom" and "dad"). Even though we went to separate colleges, we have continued to stay in touch through annual visits to Reedville for his birthday, running races together periodically, phone calls / texts and grabbing food whenever I am home.

I think it was about a year into their relationship when I finally met Chelsea. I knew she was a keeper as she could actually put Philip in his place (shocker I know!). I could tell from the way he looked at her that it was serious and that they were meant for each other. I cannot wait until I get to celebrate their marriage as a married man myself!

At the wedding, I look forward to slow dancing with Philip to "My Heart Will Go On" by Céline Dion. And then I figured we'd jam out to "Hey Ya!" by Outkast and maybe "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. If I know these two, it's going to be one heck of a party! Love you guys :)
