Wedding Wednesday #4: Introducing Lauren Sughrue (Bridesmaid)

Lauren Sughrue
Bridesmaid

Hellooo from Richmond/Mechanicsville/Hanover co. Virginia! My name is Lauren Sughrue and I am super excited to be one of Chelsea’s bridesmaids!

I am a fresh graduate of Virginia Tech’s architecture school. I just started a new job a couple weeks ago as an intern at Baskervill, an architecture/engineer/interior design firm in Richmond.

Chelsea was the first friend I had in ole Mechanicsville, back in 1996. My family moved to Kings Charter in April sometime and I believe we met (with our parents) either at the pool or just outside in the neighborhood (SO 90s). I remember going to the pool pizza parties and swim meets with Chelsea. There were a million sleepovers and a lot of included hot tub soaks, painting nails and Lisa Frank stickers. In middle school we choreographed our own dances to songs, and we and a few other girls, including Bianca, totally passed a notebook around. I’m sure it would be hilarious to read today. We couldn’t always hang out with each other, because we didn’t have any classes together in high school, went to different colleges, and my parents moved to Greenville, South Carolina, but we always remained close friends. Every time we get back together, it’s as if we were never apart. For many summers, I dog sat for the Kidds and hung out with Bailey while they went to the beach. Last summer, I visited Richmond and stayed with the Kidds!

I think I heard about Philip when their relationship was new, either on a summer or winter break. Chelsea told me he was from Richmond and had gone to Trinity, which was funny because I knew a few kids who went there. I want to say I first met Philip one time before last summer, so maybe the summer before 4th year of college. But, I really got to know him better last summer. I knew I liked him and Chelsea together from the beginning. They just go so well together; their personalities mesh.

Now that I’m back in Richmond and staying with the Kidds (because they’re so kind and letting me stay with them while I get settled into my new job), I have been seeing Chelsea and Philip together more. All I can say is I’m so excited for them to be together and happy for an infinity. And, I hope that while we are all in Richmond, we can hang out and cook meals together, watch Jimmy Fallon skits, and be adults, even if that seems crazy now. I hope some Queen gets played at the wedding, because you can’t go wrong with Freddie Mercury. Destiny’s Child shouldn’t be forgotten, and I wouldn’t mind giving homage to Bridesmaids and jamming to Wilson Phillip’s “Hold On."
